Biography
In memory of Dennis Chescappio ( March 14, 1971 - December 8, 2023)
Innu Pishum is composed of Ryan, Gerald and Dennis Chescappio, two brothers from the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach, a small community located on the northern border of Quebec and Labrador. Inspired by the music of Kashtin, they released their first album in the winter of 2011 independently. In their pop-rock songs, the brothers, accompanied by a keyboard, an acoustic guitar and a bass, talk about family, friends and love stories. They have been performing for several years in their community, at the Festival Innu Nikamu in Sept-Îles and at the Festival Aqpik! Jam! in Kuujjuaq. We can see them in the film Nouveau Québec directed by Sarah Fortin and recorded in Kawawa. This fall, Ryan and Dennis are unveiling the song Mamu, an epic rock ballad inspired by the 80's, produced during a Musique Nomade stopover in their community.
