Biography
Gilbert Pietacho is an Innu singer-songwriter from the community of Ekuanitshit, on Quebec's North Shore. With his brother Ghyslain, he formed the folk-rock group Innutin. Gilbert Pietacho draws his inspiration from Claude Mckenzie, with whom he used to play at home, and from his mother, a constant source of inspiration. During the Ekuanitshit stopover in November 2023, he produced two moving, delicate acoustic folk songs: Nanitam Minutshishikau (It's always sunny) and E Mamitunenitaman (When I think of it). These songs, imbued with genuine sensitivity and soothing, gentle melodies, are accompanied by a voice that touches the heart. The simplicity of the acoustic arrangement enhances the purity of the emotions expressed, offering an intimate and comforting musical experience.
