Biography
YJ$ is the stage name of Jason Régis, a proud Innu artist from the community of Uashat mak Mani-Utenam, Québec, Canada. With over a decade of experience in rap, he has built an authentic sound rooted in his life experiences, culture, and personal growth.
A member of the collective Native Mafia Family (NMF), YJ$ brings honesty and emotion to every track he creates. In the summer of 2025, he took his artistry to the next level by beginning to produce his own beats, giving him complete creative control over his music. Always striving to grow as a musician, he is currently learning to play both the piano and guitar.
Through his music, YJ$ reflects on life in all its forms—its struggles, victories, relationships, memories, and everyday experiences. His lyrics are driven by authenticity, with the goal of creating songs that people can relate to while proudly representing his Innu heritage.
As he continues to evolve as an independent artist, both as a solo performer and with Native Mafia Family, YJ$ remains committed to pushing his creative boundaries and sharing his story through music that is genuine, meaningful, and deeply personal.
