Malorie Y Picard

Malorie Y Picard defines herself as a multi‑disciplinary artist, but above all, she is a poet. Born in Trois-Rivières, she grew up in the Estrie region and has lived since the age of 16 on the unceded territory of Tiöhtià:ke / Montréal. She became a mother at 20 and is the eldest of a close-knit family of five sisters. She is connected to the Wendat Nation through her adoptive father.

Her poetry, both tender and critical, arises from a deep need to understand, to speak, and to provoke change. Through her practice, she examines our relationship to land, the invisible, and different forms of presence. Since 2023, Malorie has been taking steps toward Wendat culture and community, driven by a desire to contribute to the connection and resurgence of Wendat culture for herself and her family.

A founding member of the punk-rock band Big Messe, she is also the author of her first poetic work, Les rouges pour la fin (September 2025). This work gave rise to a transdisciplinary stage adaptation, Les rouges pour la fin – a punk opera, presented at events including OFFTA, Festival Phénomena, and Maison de la culture Maisonneuve.

After a long musical hiatus, Malorie followed a call from the heart and returned to music with passion and dedication, learning to play the piano at 35. This learning process, along with her geo-poetic exploration, is reflected in her song Ohtehra, recorded during a Musique Nomade Escale in Wendake.
