Biography
Kœurnoir, also known as Franco Awashish, is an Atikamekw artist from the Wemotaci QC community. Born with music in his blood, it is an escape for him. Grandson of multidisciplinary artist and actor Jacques Newashish, Kœurnoir comes from a family of artists. He's keen to share his thoughts on beats. Firmly influenced by artists such as Souldia and Marseille rapper Jul, he is a talented writer with a gift for rhyme and flow. His lyrics, often committed and at other times more passionate, all relate to his life experience. Koeurnoir was first produced in 2017 at his community's Nikanik school and has been a member of the collective group FDA (fiers d'être autochtones) since 2021.
