Biography
Angèle Mckenzie is an Innu artist from the community of Matimekush-Lac John. She learned to sing religious hymns from the elders of her community, and has continued to enjoy singing them ever since. A devoted mother, she carries with her the gentleness and warmth reflected in her voice. Her participation in the Musique Nomade stopover in Kawawachikamach in 2023 was a highlight in her artistic journey, where she performed "Shash Papinu e Kushpinanut", a prayer recited before setting out on the hunt.
