Biography
Cécile Canapé is an Innu singer from Pessamit. From a young age, she was deeply influenced by her mother's voice, which sang religious hymns in Innu and French. This family tradition became a profound source of inspiration and a gateway to traditional singing.
In 2010, Cécile took her place in the church, determined to perpetuate this tradition. Since then, she has shared her voice and knowledge with those who wish to learn, with gentleness and generosity. She expresses great gratitude to Dessange St-Onge, who passed on several Innu hymns to her and nurtured her desire to sing them herself.
During Musique Nomade's stop in Pessamit, Cécile offered a moving piece, rooted in spirituality and carried by the richness of the Innu language. Her voice, imbued with humility and faith, reflects a journey where music becomes a bridge between generations.
