Biography

Cole Hatty is 14 years old and she sings, plays guitar, trumpet, ukulele, pennywhistle, hand drum and keyboard. She is from St. Mary’s First Nation in Fredericton, NB. She was raised listening to classic rock and jazz music. Her dad and her always had a bond when it came to music. When she was about 10 years old, she wanted to learn how to play guitar. She was shown 3 chords by her dad and she went from there, self teaching from then on. Every other instrument became so simple, strumming and switching between chords became so natural to her, and singing is something she has always had. Her first performance with her singing and playing guitar was when she was 11 years old in a school talent show. «I had never felt that type of nervousness before but after it was done, I didn’t want to stop playing in front of people, it was a rush, and I wanted everyone to hear me.» So from then on, she kept performing in school events, gatherings, and random jam sessions and as she says: «Being able to play music and having a great appreciation for it has gained me lots of friendships and opportunity’s to express myself and learn a lot of things about it and other people involved in music.»
