Biography

Algimou (stylized: DUMA ALGIMOU) is an East Coast Mi’kmaq & Mohawk Hip-Hop Artist and Producer from Elsipogtog First Nation. Algimou’s style has been described as RAW ENERGY, taking inspiration from artists such as Pharrell Williams, Lil B the BasedGod, SkiMask the Slump God, André 3000 and MF Doom. One early morning during late August 2017, Algimou recorded his first rap record,ROSE (A SUMMER TALE FREESTYLE), while in bed. He posted it later that day on his SoundCloud account “algimouofficial”. While attending his first year of University that following September he would meet a fellow Mi’kmaq Hip-Hop Artist named Wolf Castle. They would soon become good friends and collaborate on their first track together, RANK (WHERE DA REZ GIRLS AT?).Algimou aspires to bring Indigenous Musicians to a whole new level and reach wider audiences with, intense, engaging and comedic subject matter.
