Biography

Kyowan (Elijah Picard-Hervieux) is an Innu singer-songwriter from the community of Pessamit, on the North Shore. Passionate about music since childhood, he discovered the guitar at the age of 14 and forged his musical identity by performing covers before developing a rich and eclectic personal style. To perfect his voice and deepen his musical knowledge, he studied at the Cégep de Drummondville for three years. His artistic journey is closely linked to that of his childhood friends, with whom he has always shared a common passion for music. This natural collaboration led them to found the ensemble Mamuitun, a musical group co-created with his best friend Simon-Pierre Rock. Through Mamuitun, Kyowan explores his roots, tells his story, and builds a sonic universe where Innu culture plays a central role. Together, they work on creating new projects that convey meaning and identity.
