Biography
Simon-Pierre Rock is a singer-songwriter from the Innu community of Pessamit. He is recognized for his commitment to promoting Innu culture through music. A member of the group Mamuitun, he fuses traditional Innu influences with modern genres such as folk, R&B, and pop. His music, often sung in Innu-aimun, explores personal narratives and universal themes, seeking to preserve the language and share the reality of Indigenous communities. In collaboration with the artist Kyowan, Simon-Pierre is preparing an album that highlights their cultural identity and their vision of music as a tool for bringing people together. His influences include iconic Indigenous artists such as Kashtin and Bryan André, as well as contemporary genres such as hip-hop.
