Biography
Oluwikonok, which means “7” in Wolastoqey, is an Indigenous emo trap group founded by Oluwi7. Launched in 2024, the project reimagines ancient Wolastoqey tales through a contemporary aesthetic that blends traditional instruments, electronic music, and emo influences.
Inspired by artists such as Lil Peep and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Oluwikonok crafts a musical and visual universe that is at once introspective, bold, and deeply rooted in Wolastoqey culture. Each creation draws on ancestral narratives to give them new resonance, while remaining faithful to the artistic vision of its founder.
In 2025, the band expanded with the addition of Ted Parrott on guitar, followed by Shawn Randall on keyboards and March Rojas Velasquez on bass. Together, they enrich Oluwikonok’s sonic identity, where electronic textures meet organic sounds in an immersive artistic experience.
Through its music and visual identity, Oluwikonok offers a contemporary interpretation of Wolastoqey culture, reflecting a living heritage that continues to evolve and reinvent itself.
