Biography
Innutin is a music group from Ekuanitshit (Mingan). Gilbert Piétacho started playing music as a teenager with his brother Ghyslain Piétacho and then formed a group called Mamit Innuat. After several years, they formed a new group called Innutin. Their first album was released in 2005, and Innutin released another one in 2017. They have performed in many places in Quebec, Newfoundland and Kuujjuaq. In 2018, the band was nominated at the Indigenous Music Awards in Winnipeg and won an award at the 2019 Teweikan Gala in Trois-Rivières. Innutin sings about the reality of Aboriginal people from yesterday to today - their dreams forever rooted in their hearts and beliefs. Dreams speak to us and show us the way forward for future generations. Tanite Maku.
