David Finkle is an award-winning traditional indigenous musician maker and proud member of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. As a traditional knowledge keeper, he excels at offering a wide variety of things such as: Historical presentations from Indigenous perspectives, traditional storytelling, drum/rattle making and indigenous music. He’s done much soundtrack and filmscoring work as well as having performed at and even organized numerous successful festivals. Sandrine Masse-Savard is a professional violist having performed under the baton of renowned conductors throughout North America, Eastern Europe and Russia. As a member of the Wendat First Nation, Sandrine has in the past ten years re-discovered her love of music through a variety of genres. She now performs in bands and as a solo artist in folk, world, experimental, traditional, funk and more. Sandrine and David met in the summer of 2019 and soon connected over their shared sense of melody and passion for instrumental music. 'Okara' (loosely translating into 'story' within the Mohawk dialect) was founded the following fall. Okara aims at drawing from a diverse musical palette to share stories of the duo through their own musical language.
