Biography
From Pikogan, a small Algonquin community in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Samian conquered by proudly wearing his colors; those of his nation, for whom he claims respect and recognition. Discovered in 2004 with the Wapikoni Mobile, he has since released 3 albums, one of which, Face à la musique (2011), won a Felix at the ADISQ gala for the hip-hop album of the year. He has performed in shows across Canada and in more than ten countries around the world. He has also published a collection of poetry bringing together the texts of his 3 albums. Many of his texts can be found today in various textbooks in Quebec. In February 2016, he was awarded the prestigious Artist for Peace award, recognized across Canada. His fourth album, Le Messager, was released in 2019. Samian hosts the documentary series En Marge du Monde on TV5 Monde and is preparing the release of a new album in 2021.
