Nimuk Kanapé is a composer-performer from the community of Pessamit. It was at the age of 13 that he discovered his passion for music and had the chance to do his first show at La Romaine. Over the years, he has had many mentors and influences but it is especially Petapan who will be a major inspiration for him. With his group Nimuk & Friends, who sings mainly in Innu-aimun, they perform at weddings as well as at festivals and other types of events throughout Quebec. On the other hand, it is alone that Nimuk participates in the Talents Bleus competition as part of the show La Semaine des 4 Julie where he has the chance to make himself known to the general public. Nimuk & Friends also received several nominations for best Indigenous album in Winnipeg, best Indigenous show and best album at the Teweikan Gala in addition to winning first prize at the Mamu First nation Music Competition at the Capitole de Québec. The group publishes their songs on YouTube and on their Facebook page for everyone to enjoy. Nimuk wishes to convey his life and experience through his songs in his next album.
