Biography

Kahtolin is a Wolastokukewisqehs singer-songwriter from the community of Wahsipekuk, Quebec. She is now based in Eqpahak, Fredericton, New Brunswick to study the Wolastoqey language. Cultural animator, ambassador of the Mikana organization and coordinator of various projects with Indigenous communities, she is interested in cultural exchanges and sharing, as well as in the revitalization of Indigenous languages. Through music, a passion that has long been put aside, she reconnects with her artistic spirit as well as with her culture. Her first single Kil, which means "you", explores the sweetness of her voice and a poem in Wolastoqey Latuwewakon, a fragile ancestral language spoken by only a hundred speakers. Recorded in collaboration with Musique nomade, Kil is also the result of a meeting between producer Emmanuel Alias and Kahtolin; an experience that led to the creation of a first EP, including four singles that will be released throughout the seasons. This fall, we let ourselves be rocked by Kil.
